Teaching Philosophy:
My greatest hope as a teacher is to create a feeling of success and independence in my students. I studied art education at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was a public educator for 9 years before changing careers in 2014. I am also a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist. My commitment to learning to teach well is noticed as often as the beauty found in my quilts, and it is one of my most cherished compliments.
Working with me is accessible and straightforward with three exciting entry points: on-demand, virtual, and in-person. I love connecting with intuition and flow when making quilts, and I care deeply about teaching healthy bodily habits alongside good technique. I have a serious soft spot for beginners (maybe from all those years teaching art to high school freshmen?), and I also heartily enjoy introducing new ideas to my fellow quilt-obsessed experienced sewists.

In-Person Offerings

In-Person Events
You and Heidi will meet over the phone or Zoom to tailor a plan for your guild or event. This could include lectures, trunk shows, workshops, one-on-one or small group time with students, and social hours/mingling.
Guilds: This includes an on-demand workshop and lecture for everyone in your guild.
Events & Retreats: This may include a webpage made especially for your group with supplemental on-demand content to prepare students before the event. Please note that for events outside of the quilt guild framework, I prefer working with a percent rather than a flat rate.
Costs: Heidi’s fee begins at $5k, and additional expenses for the host/students include transportation, food, and hotel lodging.
Time: A typical in-person offering might be 4-days to a week. Longer events are also possible.
