I remember watching Friends in jr high when Phoebe said that lobsters mate for life, and she was looking for her lobster. That myth may’ve been debunked, but I still love the sentiment of a pair of committed lobsters. I college I drew about 70 lobsters, and thought about making them in clay too. These lobsters are delicately embroidered after the college drawings. The frame is attached with red stitches that are subtly visible, and the quilting emphasizes their connection.
The quilt was made for the 30x30x30 show at Var Gallery, and is one of only 2 quilts from the series that are still available for purchase.
