Neutrality Study no. 1

$3,000.00

Materials: Quilted linen and cotton fabric, thread, and a scrap of mending gifted to me by my friend Sarah Nishiura

Year Completed: 2020

Dimensions: 39 x 39”

This series explores neutral color schemes. This first work was inspired by a 6x6" quilt from the 30x30x30 project in 2018, titled Overlapping (For the First Time). That was my favorite quilt from that series and it felt exciting to devote more space and time to the idea. The piecing was recorded in a time-lapse video and took exactly 3 hours, and would've been an example for a hand piecing workshop with the MQG sessions had the pandemic not cancelled the class. The complexity of the overlapping quilting lines compensates for any overly simplified bits of piecing, and this quilt felt like a new and exciting step creatively.
